Hi guys i am a beginner....i would like you to explain me what a driver circuit is ,
what kinds of motor does it control,
how do i control the speed of the motor.....also please send me the schematic diagram of the circuit for controlling a motor using H-bridge.....and others if any.....

Please mail me at joker.mkt@gmail.com

Hi Joker

A driver circuit is the interface between low power control signals, from for example CMOS logic circuits or a microcontroller and a output device that requires more power than can be drawn from the control signal source.

There are many different driver circuits depending on what output device you want to control. Simple loads can be controlled by a single transistor (usually a Darlington type power transistor) or a MOSFET. If you need to drive an inductive load like a relay coil, solenoid or motor it is usually necessary to add a protective diode to snub any inductive voltage spikes produced when the coils are de-energised.

H-bridges are used to reverse the direction of an electric current flowing through an output device, for example an electric motor. To make an H-bridge you need four switching elements controlled by two outputs from the control circuit

You can find your own circuit diagrams for all these circuits on the internet (I am not going to do your GCSE Systems and Control project!) Try http://www.rev-ed.co.uk/docs/picaxe_manual3.pdf

Also this post should be in the electronics thread. (Agog, can we move this?)

I'm not sure I can move the topic, will have to quiz my bro, see if it can be done in the database. Forum code is getting a bit long in the tooth I guess.

Act now, keep IDiocy out of the classroom

I was checking a 74HC86 in a vga to rgb circuit(it's a quad exclusive or array)anyway google images showed this site using this chip. www.societyofrobots.com
I'll have a look.
